The ferry to Bergen left early in the morning and made many stops along the way. At first it was exciting to stand outside and look at the fjords and tiny villages, but after several hours I ended up taking a nap inside the cabin. When I awoke, we were in the heart Bergen's harbor with houses rising all around us like seats in an opera house.
We had lunch at the fish market. I was temped to order a whole uni, but I thought it would be too much and make me sick. I probably should have gotten it anyway.
There was an area next to the harbor called Bryggen with crooked old houses so close together that some of them shared the same water drain. The area is known for the colourful houses and steep gable roofs. It was fun to walk between and within the buildings.
When we were exploring the city on foot, we came across a local street fair for kids.
